    Unhappy Compaq Presario Memory Upgrade

    Hey there people i basically need someones help. I basically want to place more memory into my computer. I have a Compaq Presario 2500 that i brought from singapore. When i checked on a couple of sites it says that i i have 2 slots for ram memory and that the maxiumum memory i can place is 1gb . So i opened my ram section up and i saw two memory chips of PC 2700 256 Mb Samsung DDR Ram. so i was wondering what ram to buy as i want to make my laptop run faster and also if i can place 2x1gb modules. my laptop details are below:

    System Model
    Hewlett-Packard Presario 2500 (DV551P) KH.F.21
    Enclosure Type: Notebook

    Processor:
    3.05 gigahertz Intel Mobile Pentium 4
    8 kilobyte primary memory cache
    512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

    Main Circuit Board:
    Board: Hewlett-Packard 0850 NS570 Version PQ1B60
    BIOS: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. KF_KH.F.21 03/18/2004

    Memory Modules:
    Slot 'J400' has 256 MB
    Slot 'J401' has 256 MB

    Bus Adapters:
    Texas Instruments PCI-1410 CardBus Controller
    VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller (2x)
    VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller

    according to this you can only have 1GB of RAM

    oh o.k so how am does that mean i can only put 256 and 512mb in

    you can put at most 2 sticks of 512MB =1024MB = 1GB

    If you've already got 2 sticks of 256MB you'll have to remove them both and replace with 2 x 512 or just 1 stick of 512 with 1 stick of 256 and make 768

    you're better off sticking with the RAM that crucial advise PC 2700 DDR Ram
