    Exclamation Upgrading RAM

    Hello,

I have a Dell Dimension 5100 with two (2) unbuffered 256 MB DDR2 SDRAM modules running at 400MHz. I went to http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner...3&tabid=AM#ram and decided that I wanted to get the 512MB kit (256MBx2) CT463400 **OR** the 1GB kit (512MBx2) CT463413 while still keeping the two 256 modules that I currently have. My question is will either of those work on my system.

    Thanks

    c ya!

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

crucial is a very good tool for telling you what RAM will fit your machine. you machine will go up to 8gig

your machine only has 4 banks so if you want to keep the RAM you've already got go for the best you can afford.....the more RAM the quicker some programmes will run
