Will this graphics card work on my computer?

Hi, I am looking to upgrade my graphics card on my Packard Bell IXTREME 6003 computer. The question I have is whether this graphics card will work on my machine:

Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800GS+ Silent 512MB DDR3 DVI, TV OUT, AGP (450MHz Core Clock) (1250MHz Memory Clock)

Packard Bell gives no indication that that computer's graphics can be upgraded.

We can try to search the motherboard if you post back this scan:

Thanks for the link. How did I miss that?

That card should work on that board: yes.

    Motherboard supports AGP 2.0/3.0 Accelerated Graphics Port 2.0 (4X/2X) & 3.0 (8X)

    GeForce 7800GS supports 8X, 4X and 2X AGP

Assuming you have the following as well which I see that you do although I cannot tell about your Power Supply:

OS Required Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit Edition, Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP
Peripheral / Interface Devices CD-ROM, two additional power connectors, 400W power supply, adjacent PCI slot
System Requirements Details Pentium 4 - RAM 256 MB

I can find no spec on the Power Supply but it should be clearly labeled if you open the case. I have a feeling you may need to upgrade this too.

There is also a BIOS Update that would probably be a good idea to get. Listed under Downloads.

Thanks for the advise, I have checked the power supply and its max output is 280W. I noticed on the system requirements that I need a Pentium 4 processor, will the card work with AMD Athlon as I have been told that it is equivalent to Pentium 4 - am i wrong about this, if so does that need upgrading as well as the power supply unit?

Will this PSU be suitable for my pc:

    The CPU should be fine.

The PSU depends on your case size matching the PSU but ti looks like a match. You can measure what you have already compared to the 550W:
    Measures 15cm(W) x 8.5cm(H) x 14cm(D).

    Physical Dimensions

Besides the specs and form factors, the physical dimensions are also important factors in selecting a compatible power supply. Here is an outline of the physical dimensions of most standard power supplies:

ATX: 6x3.5x5.5", HxWxD. Most common. Uses 4 mounting screws.
Mini-ATX: 5x3.5x5", HxWxD. Rare size. Uses 4 mounting screws. Can be used in a regular ATX case, but often not the other way around.
MicroATX: 5x3x4", HxWxD. Use 3 mounting screws. Not interchangeable with ATX or miniATX.
Flex ATX: Even smaller than Micro ATX. Various sizes according to case specs; often not interchangeable.

Use the data above to determine if a particular power supply would fit your case.

Thanks again for all your help, the card and psu went in fairly stress free. The computer is working fine and performance is much better.
