    Re: motherboard/cpu compatibility (ASUS P4PE)

I have an ASUS P4PE motherboard and I want to put in an Intel CPU. I'm kind of confused on what CPUs I can put in it. I got it down to socket 478 CPUs, but from there, I want the fastest compatible CPU I can get (including HT if possible).

What I'm confused about are the Cores - Dothan, Northwood, Prescott, Yonah. Can I use any one of them with the ASUS P4PE? What about Core Duo or Core Solo? Aren't they all socket 478?

I think that the fastest CPU I can get for it now is Intel Pentium 4 2.8B Northwood 533MHz FSB Socket 478. Could I use an Intel Pentium 4 3.0E Prescott 800MHz FSB Socket 478 RoHS Version?

I'm so confused...anyone able to clear me up?
