My GeForce4 MX 440 video card has the monitor plugin and an S video out plug. It will work if I use the S video but when I plug in a monitor it will show the startup screens and will seem like it is working until it starts to load windows then it seems like the connection between the monitor and graphics card isn't working.

If you can see the startup screens (e.g. BIOS and boot messages), then the output port on the graphics card and the monitor itself are both working fine. Sounds like a driver issue. Can you see what's going on in Windows if you boot into Safe Mode?

Uninstall your existing drivers, re-boot, choose the standard windows drivers, reboot, install your cards drivers (not nvidia drivers....yet).

I figured it out I had just needed to get updated drivers for it and it works fine now. thanks for the help
