Need help with graphics card
I just installed a graphics card on my computer and I am having trouble with it. I'm not sure if I'm missing drivers or it just will not work with the PC I own now. The problem is when I play a game now there is no textures on any of the 3D objects. Textures on buildings, trees, aircraft, etc, are all black or gray. The gaphics card I installed was the PNY GeForce FX 5500 128MB DDR. The computer I tried to install it on was a Compaq Persario 5000US. In case you may not know the specs, here they are:
Intel pentium III 866 Mhz processor
383 MB SDRAM (Upgraded to this from 128MB)
40G hard drive
250W power supply
I have tried everything within my knowledge of computers (which is not all that impessive). Changing the PCI slot I put the card in. Installing the drivers that came with the product, reinstalling them several times might i add, changing the options in the games, changing display options, reloading the games, and a few others. Please help.
Thanks

Is this a PCI card or an AGP?
Check your settings and 3D tests under dxdiag | Display
start/Run/ dxdiag
Also on the General page of dxdiag check your DirectX version.
It should be 9.0c
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Also from the brief specs you posted your computer might not be able to support high-end games.
Are there particular games that you have problems with?
Here is a test:

-It is a PCI card
-I'll check all the setting and see what happens
-Installed DirectX 9.0
-all the games that I've tried worked alright before the install. I've been having trouble with flight simulator 2002 and black and white, I've also tested Age of Mythology and sim city 3000 they seemed to work fine though.

Did you run the tests under dxdiag | Dispaly | DirectX Features?

yep, everything seems to be alright. Tested DirectDraw and Direct3D, both tested ok.
There was no conflicts or problems found through dxdaig. Still no textures though.
