Just to clarify: you start the computer and it goes thru the BIOS POST but you cannot boot XP?

    Is this correct?

If so it is not surprising. You need to reinstall XP under such circumstances.

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

The hard drive with having XP on and from another machine will be set for that mobo and drivers, do you have a new version of XP, I should imagine the version for the compaq PC is for that machne only.

XP will cover most drivers. You may need to find Audio drivers and Video if your video is on-board.

But you do this after you install XP. The only drivers that need installing during the XP install would be RAID drivers which don't apply here..
