    Help with new motherboard

OK after I fried my old Mobo, (see other post) I got the new one today. Installed it and started computer. It would go through all of the device recognition stuff and install and ask me to reboot. So I would and it would not reboot right. So iwould have to shutdown and start windows in the last known good config and the process would repeat. So I called tech support and they said that I would either have to use the windows XP CD to repair it, if that didn't work I would have to reinstall XP and format hard drive. I also boutght a media center XP cd so I figured I woould try to upgrade to that. Well half way through the process the thing restarts and pretty much freezes at 39 minutes left in install. So I shutdown comp and it just restarts the upgrade where I left off. Is there anyway to cancell this install so I can get into my computer and get files off the hard drive before I format it. HHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP ME PLEASE.

Its been a bad week for computers. I have to go to work know but will be back later. Also what files should I make sure to get off my hard drive before I format. (assuming I am able to get back into hard drive).

I talked to a guy at work and he said to hook it up to another comp,(the hard drive) as slave and I should be able to get the files I need before I format it. Im gonna give it a try.
