    Help me please/ So confused

Hi, I'm new on this forum, and I just ran the scan to check out my computer, but I understand none of it, so I was hoping someone could help me. Could someone tell me if I should buy some new components for my computer or something, because I was thinking about buying a new video card or buying another hard drive.

First off you should go to Windows Update and take all Critical updates. You currently don't even have SP1 which is vital!

Next your Video card is very outdated but your board apparently only has PCI slots which really limits your upgrade options.

As to your hard drive: how much free space do you have on that 80GB?

You need to ask yourself what it is you want to do with the computer. New models are sometimes cheaper and superior to upgrading old systems.

Is your computer a standard model of some kind? e.g. Sony? (my guess) etc.

    Try this scan: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

What is listed under System Model as well as Drives?

I found a P4B266M (no LM) which does have an AGP slot.

Would still like to confirm the board. With the Belarc scan what is also listed under Main Circuit Board?

Jephree I just rebooted my entire computer, so I have a lot of free hard drive space, but I am still thinking of getting a new video card and hard drive. Should I get some then or should I get a new computer? Do you have any suggestions as to what I should get?

Sony's site has info on adding a hard drive:

    http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-...l?mdl=PCVRX650

    http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-faq.pl?mdl=PCVRX650

Your AGP slot is 4X meaning you could use almost any AGP 8X 4X card. The 8X functionality will just set itself to a 4X speed. That is the limit of your motherboard.

As seen in this thread your Power Supply also comes into question as you go to high end cards:

    http://p200.ezboard.com/funofficials...cID=1679.topic

ATI is a good site to browse possibilities:

    http://www.ati.com/

The basis of your question depends pretty much on what you want to do?

Why are you currently dissatisfied? What would you hope for?

Are you interested in building/upgrading computers or do you just want to have it done?

Are you interested the latest and fastest or just something that works solid for most things?

Are you running high end games and doing video editing? etc. etc. etc.
