Asus P4s800D-X MB RAM issue......
I built a system a few months ago. I went cheap, granted, but it works decently. I started with a Asus p4s800d-x motherboard, P4 3.2 ghz processor, video card, blah, blah, blah, and 1 gig of PQI memory, in 512MB sticks( specifically, PQI3200-512SAH).
Recently I upgraded the memory, using the same memory manufacturer, same model, etc. to 2 gigs (I added 2 more 512MB sticks). It worked fine for awhile, then I blue screened. Restarted fine, and kept going. After awhile, blue screened again. And so on and so forth. Sometimes it worked great, sometimes it crashed, but always rebooted and worked.
I did memory tests on all the sticks of RAM. I used the memtest86+, and also a Microsoft beta memory test utility. Only problem was it didn't narrow down the exact module where the problem was when it started delivering all kinds of errors. So I had to do it the long way. I pulled all the memory and tested each stick individually........no errors. Next I tested all the combinations with all 4 sticks with 2 sticks......no errors. Just for the sake of saying I had done it, I tested the combinations with all iof them using three sticks.....no errors. Then the time consuming process of doing all 4 modules in all the possible combinations.......error messages all over.
What do I do now? The specs for the board say max memory is 4 gigs, this is only 2gigs. Is it a motherboard problem? Tired of yanking my hair out!!!! Please help!!!!!
