    Athlon upgrade problem

Guys I would appreciate your help

The company I purchased my computer from, installed a A7N8X motherboard after a fault, and re-installed my AMD Athlon XP1800+ processor. The memory was 2*256 SDRAM P2100. 266HZ

On trying to upgrade, I installed 512 P2700, after reference to this site as to whether it would run satisfactorily.

    Installed OK - no problems

I then attempted to install a AMD XP2400 Athlon processor, onto the motherboard.
The boot did not start, and nothing came up on the monitor

    Could you help

    Cheers

were you careful when you removed the old CPU with static?
did you use a new heatsink or the old one?
have you tried with the original CPU back in place?

Do you know whether your motherboard is supposed to be capable of supporting an AMD 2400+ processor? It might be that the processor needs to run faster than the board can manage.

Try removing the motherboard battery for a minute with the system disconnected from the mains. This will reset the BIOS back to the most compatible factory settings, increasing your chances of the motherboard / BIOS detecting the new CPU properly.

Let us know if that helps
