    changing a memory chip

    i have a note book sony vaio vgn-t140p that needs a memory chip changed in it... it should be an easy fix if I could figger out how to get the case open , I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea on how to do this..

    Upgradeability

    The Sony VAIO VGN-T140P/L can be upgraded to a maximum of 1GB of DDR 200/333 memory using the single free RAM slot. The expansion procedure looks like a bit of a hassle though. It involves unscrewing two screws on the bottom of the laptop, then levering up the keyboard to expose the empty RAM slot. This is understandable in a laptop this small, but it's still inconvenient. There are no other user-upgradeable parts.

    I added more RAM to my friend's tiny Vaio laptop. Sounds like it could be similar in design to yours. Her's basically looked like it was formed in two parts - the keyboard in one section and then the palmrest / trackpad in front of it. Removing half a dozen screws underneath, opening it up, fitting the RAM and putting it back together took all of about 4 minutes
