How can I find out if my motherboard is an ATX

I am looking to buy a new motherboard and I am going to be using the same case I have now, I have a compaq 077CH motherboard and I need to know if its like ATX or baby ATX whatever else it could be also like what size it is so I know what other boards I could fit into my case, I called compaq tech support they couldnt tell me anything, I look all over the internet, inside my pc etc couldnt find anything. I know its a 2001 or 2002 board so its pretty old. Can anyone help me? maybe someone who had the same board or something? if anyone needs any other specs to help
I have SDRAM 1024MB P4 1.7ghz my bios for my Mobo are 686y2 v2.10 01/15/02. the Chipset is i845 and the southbridge is 82801BA(ICH2)

What is the exact model & # of Compaq? I see that board in Presario desktops & from other models it looks like a standard ATX.

Also just out of curiosity why do you want to reuse the old case?

Well i have a budget of 300 dollars so finding a cheap mobo and processor is hard enough so I have to keep the case.

Try this scan: what is listed under System Model?

New cases can be had starting @ $29 or so. Here is a good selection:

    Just Compaq? hmm.....

Do you know if it is a Presario?

    Is it a tower case?

What are the actual dimensions of the case? Hight/width/depth?

.....still running searches on compaq 077CH motherboards.....

I am having no luck searching for specs on compaq 077CH motherboards.

This site: Form Factors has very detailed specs on each & every form:

    http://www.formfactors.org/formfactor.asp

I would guess that yours' is a standard ATX.

I suggest opening the case & physically match your board with the Form Factor specs.

    Click: Motherboard Form Factors: ATX:

ATX Specification - Version 2.2 etc.

Match your board's configuration & most importantly the mounting hole dimension layout.

Although I can't clarify it more than Jephree, I can confirm that it is definitely either ATX or micro-ATX. There is another form factor called AT (and baby AT) but those are old formats that were never available for Pentium 4 processors. There's also now one called BTX but that only came out this year. Measuring the board as Jephree has suggested is the way that I would recommend confirming what you've got fitted. Bear in mind though that some ATX cases are fitted by the manufacturer with micro-ATX motherboards so, even if you have the smaller type, you may be able to buy a bigger replacement.
