The Evesham web site has a distinct lack of information for products that they aren't currently selling. However, after a lot of searching around, I was able to find an online magazine review from 2001 which says that your Athlon 1400 model is sitting on an Asus A7M266 motherboard. Therefore, you have 2 DDR RAM slots (1 already occupied by your current memory) and can support a processor with a 266MHz FSB bus. I'll try to come back later to expand on that information![]()
Is it ok to upgrade my Amd Athlon 1.4GHz to Atholn 64
At present i have a AMD Athlon 1.4GHz Running A 120GB IDE hard drive which i had to replace a Damaged 40GB IDE Plus i am running 256Mb DDR memory which i am giong to double up at least. also i am going to replace my CD drive with a DVD writer, do you think its a good idea to fit A AMD Athlon 64 as well as Windows XP.
thank you

I dont think the AMD 64 will fit your motherboard if it's got a AMD 1.4 in...they use different socket types
Thank you for your help, i have posted more info about comp hope you can help, also do you know where i can get info about using this site i am very poor at the links if you know what i mean.

Yes, you're right Brain_damage. I had thought that AMD were still using Socket A but it seems that they're now using Socket 754 for the budget Sempron processors and Socket 939 for the performance Athlon64 chips. So you're limited to 32-bit Athlon processors, Slowjoey, assuming that you can still find one that fits into Socket A motherboards.Originally Posted by brain_damage
