    just starting...

I've just started toying with the idea of building my own PC and don't have much experience except for basic installation of wireless cards, hard drives, etc.

I'm sure I'll have many questions in the future to pose, but the first one is if I buy components in the U.S. (e.g., motherboard, cpu, ram), will there be any compatibilty issues (especially with regards to differing electrical standards) of operating the pc in the U.K.?

Apart from the PSU voltage, I dont think there should be any differences for the crate itself. Component and board voltages will be the same across the world. Most graphic adapters will usually also support a variety of broadcast signal standards (PAL NTSC). If in doubt, mail the supplier beforehand.
