I have an HP Vectra VLi8 (PIII 500Mhz/256Mb of 100 Bus spd RAM). I dont need a blazing machine but would like to speed it up.. I can add 256 RAM but what is the fastest P3 I can add?

I have the exact same machine!

I upped my RAM to 512 but in doing so found that I needed "low density" RAM.

I believe it was 8 chip single sided. Point being it was a special order & quite expensive compared to "normal" RAM.

I upped the CPU to 1.4 gig with this adapter:

The RAM cost me $150 US & the adapter another $150. Now I see that they are almost $200.

Point being it is not worth it. Build a new machine!
