Red face New laptop for video editing

ok dosent quite fit here, but closest catagory.

My friends going to uni in sept and is going to be studying theatre and film, so he needs a laptop that is capable of video editiing ( he will be using adobe premier professional to edit the films)

I asked him if there was anything specific he wanted and these are what he mentioned

    firewire
    atleast 2 usb
    dvd re writer
    largish high quality screen,
and powerfull enough to edit video,

ill add to the list ms self a large hardrive( as those films are going to be absolutly massive by the sounds of it), good graphics card, atleast 512 mb ram ( if not 1 gig) a fast processor and a 3 year warantee

the battery life and weight isnt an issue as most of the time it will be in his dorm room plugged it, just hes opted for a laptop ranther than a desktop as its easier to take home off term time

the one hes seen is this

whats your opinion on it? is it a good enough system for what he wants it for, having a vaio myself, i know there often overpriced and seem to lack power, the graphics card on that one also dosent seem to be all that, and i want him to get the best system he can for his money.

so basically what would you recomend for him, spec make etc

it needs to be no more than £1000 ( but if it can be under that, then all the better)

    thanx guys
    xxx

way outa his price range, that comes to over £1800 ( and i didnt add all the options on) it needs to be less than £1000, thanx anyway, i think hes just going tohave to accept he isnt going to get a laptop as powerful as he wants for that kind of money,

Remember tho, video editing is a huge demand on a system, especially the video and RAM sections. Drop the processor but keep the ram and video and you can play with the prices that way...I included a 300gb ext. hdd for a scratch drive because you dont want to be using your main drive.

Orville is happy to have nina back. He enjoys her company. Once I finish up this last disc of pictures I will upload Orville's baby sitting day with some other Llamas and Alpacas
