    Unhappy fan problem???

iv'e just built a new pc
antec aria case with 300w psu
    pentium 4 3.0gig prescott
    6600gt graphics card
    2x 512mb crucial pc2700 ram.
    western 80gig ata 100 hdd
    sony dvd rw +/-

tried to boot it up, it shows cpu temp at 70-80 degrees c and rises to 88 in bios before shutting down. it dosn't even get that far sometimes.

cpu fan speed shows 600 rpm. have i broken the fan as some wires got in the way of the fan rotation when first installing and booting which caused it to squeal a bit.

have tried booting with different bits of pc out and in to see if they were problem.
it makes no difference as when it does get to post i get no beeps.

The fan should be running between 3000 and 4000 RPM. You are cooking the CPU with 70 to 80 degree c processor temps. Dont turn it on until you replace that fan.
