Hi Jephree,
I just talked to the computer tech about my computer and I got some bad news.
He tried to run the diagnostics, but the puter would freeze before it got half way.
He said he has checked everything out (all the peripherals, drives, power supply, etc).
He said the only thing it can be is the motherboard is going bad.
I'm in shock right now... This computer is only 5 yrs. old! Shouldn't they last longer than that?
My son's emachine puter is about 10 yrs. old and still runs good.
Well, my options are: try to find a motherboard that will work with this case and the new RAM's I recently bought, Or buy new motherboard that will work with this case and new RAM's that work with it, or buy a new computer that fits my small budget and probably one I wouldn't be happy with.
I think I'll start pricing some things and go from there.
Thanks for all your help!
I'll keep ya posted.

Hi Jephree,
I'm having a hard time finding a new Compaq motherboard the same model as mine (5WV294). I think I'd like to go with something different and hopefully better anyway... any suggestions as to what I need to look for to make sure the new one fits without having to modify? So far what I've found out is... my case is a MATX and it had a socket A motherboard in it (I don't know if that makes any difference). Do I need to look for a certain size or dimensions or just MATX? Or can I only use a Compaq motherboard?
Please help if you can.
Thanks,
TC

MicroATX would be the first requirement so that it will fit the case.

Here are some:

If you plan to re-use the processor than it will need to be a socket A as well.
