There are a couple different versions of Duo Pro.
Is this yours? GA-8I915P Duo Pro

    http://www.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard...0Duo%20Pro.htm

Just a few notes from the manual:

    IDE Connections .. 1 IDE connection (UDMA 33/ATA 66/ATA 100), allows connection of 2
    IDE devices(IDE1)
    .. 2 IDE connection (UDMA 33/ATA 66/ATA 100/ATA 133), compatible with
RAID, allows connection of 4 IDE devices(IDE2,IDE3)

    IDE1/IDE2/IDE3 (IDE Connector)
An IDE device connects to the computer via an IDE connector. One IDE connector can connect to one
IDE cable, and the single IDE cable can then connect to two IDE devices (hard drive or optical drive).
If you wish to connect two IDE devices, please set the jumper on one IDE device as Master and the
other as Slave (for information on settings, please refer to the instructions located on the IDE device).
To ensure that an IDE CD-ROM drive can work properly, please attach it to the IDE 1 connector.

    S_ATA0/S_ATA1/S_ATA2/S_ATA3 (Serial ATA Connector)
Serial ATA can provide 150MB/s transfer rate. Please refer to the BIOS setting for the Serial ATA
and install the proper driver in order to work properly.
    Is IDE1 working?

What type of devices are you trying to connect to IDE2 or 3?

Have you checked all the jumper settings on 2 & 3?

Quick scan of the manual again:

    IDE Channel 0 Master, Slave
IDE HDD Auto-Detection Press "Enter" to select this option for automatic device detection.
IDE Channel 0 Master(Slave) IDE Device Setup. You can use one of three methods:
Auto Allows BIOS to automatically detect IDE devices during POST(default)
None Select this if no IDE devices are used and the system will skip the automatic
detection step and allow for faster system start up.
Manual User can manually input the correct settings

Question 7: Why cannot I use the IDE 2?
Answer: Please refer to the user manual and check whether you have connected any cable that is not
provided with the motherboard package to the USB Over Current pin in the Front USB Panel. If the cable is
your own cable, please remove it from this pin and do not connect any of your own cables to it.

    hi
problem solved i had to install the raid drivers then connect my dvdwriter to ide2 it then showed up in the via raid facility and worked fine. i was under the impression the it would just auto find as it was ide. the manual doesnt explain this but thanks for your time
and i will do some web searching for any similar problems people have had with this board.

    many thanks
