Recovery from total loss of PC

Somehow I have managed to delete the entire system from my IBM Thinkpad. The CD-ROM is extenal and connects via the USB but is no longer recognisable and hence I cannot re-load Widows. I have downloaded MS-DOS and tried to re-create a partition and find that the maximum partition size that it will allow me to create is 2GB. Also, I have tried to download a CD-ROM driver so that I can activate the CD-ROM drive but this has not worked either.

Are you saying the notebook does not have an internal CD drive?

What is the exact model #? Are you using the IBM recovery disk?

Here is an interactive IBM Thinkpad site:

There is a bit of a delayed reaction on that link. Give it a minute.

    Hope this helps.
