building
i am building a puter. I will have a athlon 64 3500+, xfx nvidia 6600gt,120 gig hd,1 gig pc3200 ram, dvd cd burner, and dfi lanparty nf4 motherboard. My case has a 350w power supply. is this enough to run my system. or do i need a bigger one

Personally, I'd prefer something bigger than that, particularly if it's a new build - it's not worth all the associated hassle that you'd get if you had problems that were caused by insufficient power. Although opinions vary, I'd personally suggest that you look for a 500w power supply or even bigger if your budget allows for it.
Hope that helps

To be honest, I'm really not an expert on power ratings (though there are others here that can work it all out). I'd say that, if you have power problems when you build the system, you could probably work around them by:
- using on-board graphics if your motherboard has it, so that you can unplug that hefty graphics card
- run only one RAM module if you have two
- disconnect the DVD/CD drive
- use the BIOS to disable ports (e.g. COM ports, USB ports) that you don't need, in the hope that that might stop them being powered up.
I would recommend a bigger PSU but you can't do too much damage by running the system under-powered ......... I think (don't quote me on that) !

I actually have a system similar to yours:
Athlon 64 3500+
MSI K8T Neo2 Motherboard
80gb HDD
GeForce 6600
1gb corsair DDR 400
floppy drive and CD burner
My computer has a 500w power supply I bought for $50 from newegg.com. But since you say yours runs with a 350w I have a new perception of the power it takes to run a system.
