Sony Vaio Soundcard
[SIZE=4]Hello,
Im looking to upgrade my sony vaio PCV-RZ22G computer, with all the new technology, its about time. Anyways, i bought some new/sweet 5.1 surround speakers for my computer, and unfortunately, 3 of the 6 speakers wont work because of my crappy sound card. Now ive heard rumours that in a sony computer, you can only put in sony parts. If anyone can help me out with this i would GREATLY appreciate it. I definately need a new sound card, probably a new 300 gig hard drive, and possibly some more MB of Ram. If anyone has any suggestions please HELP!
Thanks so much.

Currently you have on Audio Chip on the motherboard.
You can certainly upgrade to a PCI sound card, and no, it does not need to be made by Sony. (As far as I know)
I am sure you will get more replies! Just thought I'd pass this on.

There might however be some compatibilty issues.
I worked two years for IBM in Scotland and had to deal with a lot of systems that didnt accept PCI and AGP cards, simply because they werent compatible to the IBM systems. Same true for a Hewlett Packard PC a friend of mine owned once. Tried to put in the SB AUdigy and it didnt work. No matter what we did, like BIOS Updates, tried every single PCI slot, manually assiging IRQs etc.
To sum up:
Theoretically u can put a new card in your desktop, but there is very likely no guarantee that it will work a 100%. Thats a thing all manufactureres like Sony, HP/Compaq, Fujtisu, Dell and theirlikes share
