big help needed please
I have a computer without an operating system (except dos) and can't load the driver for the cd rom. Is there anyway I can load windows through floppy.
-
what version of windows do you have?
-
i have 98, 2000 and me but all on cd
-
do you have a cd-rom drive on your PC?
-
i do but I have downloaded the driver for it on floppy but can't install it through dos
-
So i assume you have access to another working pc? Have you tried a start-up disk?
-
yes, I ahve a start up disk but can't get any further. All it keeps saying is cd rom not installed. It also says my d drive is 'msramdrive version 3.06 on virtual disk d:' does that mean anything to you? I would expect cdrom not cdram

So what happens when you get to the DOS prompt and type... E: or D: and return?
-
a: comes up as floppy, b: also comes up as the floppy, c: comes as hard drive and d: comes as I said. Windows starts to load from floppy and also says 'diagnostic tools successfully loaded to drive d:'. That is as far as I can get.

oh, I can actually get each prompt up
