I'll give it another go. The cd isn't recognised in the BIOS just the floppy and hard drive are. I can't load from 200 because it is straight from cd and doesn't have floppy support. I'm begining to think I'v spent too long on it and maybe should use it as a big paperweight

If your drive's not even showing up in the BIOS then I think this may be a hardware problem. Are you ok opening the case and having a mess about with the drive?

Try replacing / swapping the IDE cable. If you don't have a spare, just make sure the original is definitely in place and all connectors and nice and tight. Make sure the drive is set to master and not slave or cable select. Make sure the power plug is in ok and that the drive lights work.
