Hi all, stuffed up an xp re-install
Hi all,
new to the forum and im a bit stuck lol
I have just done a re-install of xp home, wiping the C drive and a reinstall of the OS, everything was going great and the computer is running 10X times faster (mainly because it hasnt got anything on it yet lol) but i have gone to re-install my wireless network card and it either cant see it or refuses to automatically install it when i plug it in.
I have installed as many drivers as i could find from my boot disks/ installation disks but it still refuses to automatically install it and connect to my home network.
My sound is working and video is ok, and it does see a network card that came with the computer, but says network cable is unplugged.
Its driving me a bit mad now as ive unplugged the card various times and used the crap setup disk that belkin gave me which only does half of the installation (you install the first bit, then your supposed to switch off then plug in card and switch back on to complete the installation)
any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Those Belkin wireless setups seem to be very popular - for that reason, you find a lot of people that say the install process is great and lots of others that say it doesn't work. Can't explain why that is as I've never tried it myself.
My only suggestion for why it works first time for some people and not for others is that it might be conflicting with your existing internal (wired) network card. Even though the PC knows that the connection isn't in use because there's no lead plugged in, the network card is still active. Try disabling it by right-clicking My Computer, selecting Properties from the menu, clicking the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button, right-clicking the network card in the list and choosing the option to disable it. Completely remove any drivers or installation programs (in Add/Remove Programs) for the Belkin wireless network adaptor, then reboot and start the install process again.
