    new build

Building my first pc and need some advice. The object is to build a quiet all-around performer – no overclocking. This is what I’ve come up with so far:

    Antec SLK3700BQE 350W PSU
    ASUS A8V Deluxe
    Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Crucial Ballistix 2 x 512MB DDR PC3200
    Samsung SpinPoint P80 160GB SATA150
    NEC ND-3500A
    Leadtek WinFast A400LE-TDH GeForce 6800 LE 128MB

    My main questions are:

    1. Is the 350W PSU enough for this system?
    2. Is the single rear 120mm fan sufficient? If not, which fan is recommended?
    3. What’s the best way to maintain/manage case temperatures?
    4. Are there any suggestions on comparably priced, better quality components?

    Thanks.

    1. Is the 350W PSU enough for this system?
Would suggest seeking a 500W supply to make it more future proof.

    2. Is the single rear 120mm fan sufficient? If not, which fan is recommended?
    Probably

    3. What’s the best way to maintain/manage case temperatures?
More/bigger fans. Possibly one throwing air in towards the cases lower half and one or more expelling towards the cases top. Round IDE cables and tidying cables out of the way of airflows.

    4. Are there any suggestions on comparably priced, better quality components?
    Not from me I'm afraid

Maxtor do hard-drives with NCQ (native command queuing). Don't know what the performance gain is like, but it's supposed to be better. Also, you could get two drives and Raid them.
For the PSU, I can recommend the Hiper Type R range - decent price and good quality.
