wanna upgrade my display card..

    wanna upgrade my display card..

    i am a fan of CS(counter strike).i wanna play it on my pc.but unfortunately i am experiencing some lag.
    My PC specs are Athlon XP 2600+,Asus A7V400-MX,256 MB ram.
    i donno where the prob lies.should i buy an external graphics card???or increasing RAM will be sufficient?
    what kinda Graphics cards r best for this case??

    What is your budget? What is your current video card? How fast is your ram? (PC2100, PC2700, PC3200 ETC.), 256MB is fine for Counter Strike. If you want a videocard that doesnt make a big hole in your wallet, aim for the ATI9600 or 9800 series.

    Presently i dont have any video card(ext).using on-board card.I have DDr ram of 400Mhz.
    My budget is around 50$.

    How much memory are you using from your 256mb to use as graphics?? if your using 64 mb for graphics that'll only leave you 192mb

    using a graphics card may be better than using on board graphics your motherboard will accept a agp one and they are not to expensive.

    Try going for the ATI9200 or GeForce5200. Those cost around 40-70 US Dollars
