Yeah so awhile ago I ripped apart my old computer and salvaged the floppy drive. I already had one in my new computer, so I figured this could be a backup one in case the other messed up, or one to copy floppies. But when I put it in and turned on my pc, only one appeared in My Computer. I keep fiddling with it, but I dunno. Any ideas, O Mighty Ones?![]()
Two floppy drives? why on earth would you want two installed? Seriously, I would just keep it on the shelf incase the other fails but you really don't need two in there you only have one floppy connection on your motherboard....
By the way I increased your reputation on the forum, you have been making a good contribution to some questions here![]()
Okie dokie then! And hey thanks for the reputation majigger. Appreciated!P.S. I have that microphone thread... (Microphone Issues)

Actually, you CAN have two floppies if you want to be able to copy from one to the other. You can plug in multiple floppy drives on the same IDE cable.
The reason that you can't see it in Windows Explorer is almost certainly because it's disabled in the BIOS. Having two floppies is so uncommon, that there's not even an auto-detect option.
Reboot the PC and, as soon as it powers up, press Delete and F2 alternately every second until the blue BIOS menu screen appears. Go into the first screen (the one that lists your hard drives) and the floppy drives are normally at the bottom. You need to enable floppy drive B as a 1.44Mb 3.5" drive. If it's not in that screen, it should be in one of the others.
Save and Exit. This will reboot and, when Windows loads, you should see both.
P.S. I assume that you did plug both drives in on the IDE cable and that both have power plugged into them?!
Your assumption is incredibly undoubtedly correct. Thanks for telling me sport!![]()
Thanks for the update DJNafey, I still stand by the fact that having two floppy drives is ridiculous! lol Most new laptops don't even have one floppy drive these days. Why would anyone want to copy a floppy disk to another floppy disk! why not copy the whole 1.44Mb of data to your hard disk then just copy it to separate floppies....
