I have a compaq 6715b laptop and when i turn it on it goes to a screen that says start in safe mode or start windows normaly when i press enter to start in safe mode it goes back to the same screen can i restore this to the factory settings

it sounds like your computer is getting a blue screen and then automatically restarting. On the same page that offers normal and safe mode first scroll down to disable automatic restart, hit enter, and then go back up and hit safe mode. If/when you get a blue screen please tell us what the error code is. If it freezes while loading the drivers tell us what the last listed file is.
