Need advice - buying new cell phone
my husband has this old Nokia flip phone, i couldnt even tell you what version because its so old!! lol he has had it duct taped for ages, but today my son managed to get his hands on it and nearly broke it in 2 pcs lol.. hubby is heartbroken. He has gotten a couple of phones when his service contract was up but none have the range that this one has... it has the best reception so far. (We live in a nearly dead zone and he works in areas where thats a problem because he is a union rep and needs to be in range).
Any suggestions about cells with good range? he doesnt care about the flip part but would prob be the most inclined to get one with an extendable antenna. Thanks in advance!!

Hi, Most phones now dont have visible antennas, let alone exdendable ones.
While I can't help with advising you on which models have the best range, I can tell you that the signal boosters really do work. They are like a little sticker with metal strips on, and it sits under the battery. I have used these on all of my phones, and always found they really do help. They're only a couple of quid max as well...
Also, I wonder if the SAR values for the phones (the radiation level) have anything to do with the range - just a thought

thanks for the info paul! I wondered if those sticker things actually work! I may have to get one for my own phone. I happened to stumble on hubby's phone version while doing some research on which phone to buy, and found a used one on eBay for very cheap! its on its way
I'm thinking i'll have to buy up all the ones I can find to keep hubby happy lol.

When you're ready to buy a phone, you'll first have to decide which of the two types, conventional cell or smart, meets your needs and budget. Choose a conventional model if you mainly need voice and text-messaging capability, and perhaps a music player and camera. Smart phones, with their advanced operating systems, larger displays, QWERTY keyboards, and other PDA-like features, are a better choice for people who need frequent access to multiple e-mail accounts, a sophisticated organizer for appointments and contacts, to open Office documents, and Internet-based services. One compelling advantage of most smart phones is their ability to access a host of applications consisting of productivity tools, shopping, multimedia, games, travel, news, weather, social, finance, references, etc.
Useful features such as support for wireless Bluetooth headsets, GPS navigation, and high-speed data access can greatly enhance user satisfaction.
Bty, I use NOkIA, i like it because of its durable battery.
