8GB? Didn't know it existed, hope it doesn't need anymore power from that battery or it will become useless! I have to charge mine daily now even on days I don't use the camera or Web

Same here. Absolutely disgrace of a battery!

My HTC S710 lasts 9-10 days standby with little relative usage, absolutely awesome. The N95 (revision 1.0 I have) lasts 2 days standby with absolutely no usage and all battery draining settings off/low. Maximum usage time playing videos and phone call is 5-7 hours at the most.

Ye there's many versions of N95, some released strictly to a few chosen countries. The latest and best one, N95-3 has 8GB standard and many upgrades, bugs rolled out: http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/8241.html

I sent mine back in when it was damaged a week back, I'm insured, I asked for the black 8GB latest and I'll pay on top, but they returned the same crappy one back. The last one used to freeze randomly. Phone is awesome compared to others especially if you know how to hack the phone software yourself and add software, but the battery is a major negative.

The US 1GB version has a bigger battery, a few case changes and higher battery capacity.

Yes it's a shame they rolled it out without making the battery better but then I guess they kept us waiting months already when they first brought it out.

Mine freezes randomly and then every now and then when I answer a call the person cannot hear me, handy! I have to reboot it to get it back to life again. I have to say apart from shocking battery life and a few bugs in the software it's one of the best phones i have purchased. Cracking camera for stills and video and fantastic screen plus I love that dual slide feature.

    I acquiesce.

When I first saw the iPhone and N95 live demo, liking open software and the flexibility of it all, and the office applications in mobile form, I absolutely thought WOW at the N95 features and package offering. I wasn't expecting this in a phone in our hands this soon. The iPhone was more a media centric iPod version of a phone to me, more for the UI than anything, plus its proprietary and I'm not fond of no GPS navigation capability. It's scary how fast all of this is moving, it basically looks like a mini-cam and PC on a phone.

Just back in '00 I recall the 402 and how that was simply so advanced.

The video is simply awesome in N95 and even better for a phone with image stabilization and you can have much more done to optimize everything, including picture capture. Every single online video I tend to view on it by using SUPER and converting. Zero loss and it looks fantastic, even if using the TV-Out.

The pictures are massive by default and look smaller on the phone because of the screen resolution but you can take a good sized clear image which displays 800x600 on a PC monitor. I also like the camera flash very much BTW, I've taken very good pictures in absolute dark.

The only phone which levels or maybe even betters it in my experience is the HTC TyTn II: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/article727.html

Thanks for the link, that phone looks awesome.

Apparently the N95 handset is now free on many contracts here in the UK. I'm not sure what model that is though they are still shipping.

Yeah, it might be the old inventory they have to get rid of, as the newer ones are out, the older ones get cheaper - probably on £35/month rental deals. N95-2 and N95-3 won't come free in the UK. I've just got mine back from some damage and they sent two back - the damaged N95-1 and upgrade new N95-2. Funny, they said to keep both though I kept saying I have no need of it.

    Here's a mini-review of the TyTN II BTW: http://www.modaco.com/Paul-Reviews-HTC-TyT-t256569.html

Ah, you have to register for the pics. I'll fetch 'em down later when I can access it, you'll enjoy the camera pic quality, better than many, especially for a PDA sort-a phone with a very fast processor.

    Last two are macro.
