    Wireless turns off sporadically

    For the past 2 months I've been experiencing some issues with my built-in wireless on my laptop. For some reason I can't turn it back on and I have to restart my computer just for it turn back on again.
    I have a dell inspiron e1505
    Steps I have taken to try and resolve this problem:
    -I've downloaded all the network drivers both recommended and optional through the dell website.
    -I tried pressing f2 + fn.
    -I tried going on windows mobility center to turn it on manually but it still doesn't work.
    any help?

    You didn't mention your Operating System, but XP or Vista drivers are here;
    Drivers & Downloads

    Also we need to know which Network Adaptor you have on that machine.

    Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (CLEAN FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, click the + sign next to;

    Network. Post the information listed under Windows Network and PCI / PnP Network (Device Description).

    Network:

    Network Adapter Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
    Network Adapter Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (192.168.1.109)
    Modem Conexant HDA D110 MDC V.92 Modem

    PCI / PnP Network:

    Device Description Type
    Broadcom NetXtreme BCM4401-B0 Fast Ethernet Controller PCI
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection [NoDB] PCI

    I already downloaded all the drivers I need for Vista. But I have a Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit operating system with SP2. Oh one last detail - I don't know whether this will be useful or not, but my built-in wireless turns off mostly when I am watching a video on YouTube or some-other site, but it still turns off randomly even on small things like searching things up on Google.

    Why post the biography of Jackson Pollock?

    Go to;
    Drivers & Downloads

    Expand; Network (7)
    Your appropriate drivers are #2 and #7 (going down the list).

    I suggest you uninstall any drivers you've installed which do not meet the above info.

    I downloaded those 2 drivers and I think I've un-installed all the other drivers that I downloaded. My built-in wireless still turns off for no reason - I think I'm going to try to uninstall everything and see how it works because there is another forum that is saying that I shouldn't download from the Intel website.

    I've never had problems with Intel drivers. Please let us know the outcome.

    well yeah me neither but the other forum is saying those specific network drivers that are available for my system is the problem. New Intel Wireless drivers for 4965, 3945: 11.1.0.100

    I found out what the problem was. Those 2 drivers from the intel website that I downloaded were outdated. I don't know why Intel is too lazy to take down those extremely old drivers and replace them with the latest driver updates that they made. Those 2 drivers were version 11.1.0.100 - the one I downloaded to fix my problem was version 13.5.0. I had to search up Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN on the Intel website to get the latest driver update. So lesson learned is to always manually search for the updates you want in the Intel website - don't try to find the specific updates you need in the Intel website by putting in your OS, computer model, and selecting what kind of category download you want.
