I am trying to install this open source program (Project'Or RIA) and have no clue what to do. I downloaded the zip file but then it says I need to unzip the file in web server. I don't know what this means as I am not as tech savvy as I would like to be.

Can someone help? Readme file contents below- I don't understand any of this.. what's PHP, Apache? All I need to do is install this program and use it. Why is it so complicated?

Pre-requisites :
- http server
- PHP server (5.2 or over)
- MySQL database (5 or over)

For instance, you may try to set-up an EasyPHP server, including all required elements.
This set-up is not recommanded for production purpose, but only for testing and evaluation purpose.
You may also set-up a Zend Server, including all required elements.
This set-up can be used for production purpose.

Set-up :
- Unzip projectorriaVx.y.z.zip to the web server directory
- Run application in your favorite browser, using http://yourserver/projectorria
- Enjoy !

This is a program that runs on an Apache server. Apache is server software that runs on a UNIX type machine, such as Linux. It does not run on a Windows machine.

So the bottomline is that I will not be able to load this on my PC?

If I go to the website of this tool, it shows snapshots of windows machine. but i am not sure.

i am really disappointed as after doing a lot of search for project management open source- i found this one.

Xampp will install apapche, mysql, PHP, and more on windows. It is actually fairly easy to manage.

Might be worth a try. But I do wonder how performance will be impacting with all that emulation going on.

The control panel allows the admin to run only what they want. Otherwise I don't know how to answer that because I've never used it on a dedicated server.
