This is most likely a hardware problem. Unless you are comfortable opening the laptop up I would take this to a computer repair shop. If you do want to have a go it yourself post back and I will give you instructions on what to look for. Do bear in mind though that laptops can be quite tricky to take apart so unless you have some experience I wouldn't advise it.

Of course, you are lucky enough for it still be under warranty ring up Sony and they should sort it out for you.

I can't find a disassembly guide for that particular model. However Sony laptops are usually easier than most to take apart.

You should wear an anti-static bracelet while working with the inside of a computer, but, failing that you should earth yourself before starting work and at regular intervals throughout. You can do this by touching exposed metal such as radiator pipes or a kitchen sink. You should also not wear any nylon clothing while working. These precautions will stop static electricity building up in your body, which can damage the sensitive parts inside a computer.

I recommend that you find a container such as an egg box to keep all the screws in. You should label where they came from and in what order so you know how to put it back together afterwards. If it helps take pictures as you remove each piece so you can look back later how it went together.

First of all power the laptop down and remove the power adapter and the battery.

There will most likely be a cover on the bottom of the laptop over the memory. Remove this and you should see something between 1 and 4 memory modules. They should look something like this:

Remove all but one of them and try to start the laptop up. Then take that one out and swap it for another and again try to start the laptop. Repeat until you have tested them all.

    Post the results.
