Red face What 2.1 speaker system

I am moving later this month and to save space I am having to give up my beloved Logitech Z5500 5.1 speaker systemso am looking for a 2.1 system to replace it. I have been looking on the review sites and now I am confused as have looked at so many reviews Can any one give their opinions on a good set. My main interest is music, classical, folk, bluegrass/country, electronica(Vangellis etc), Rock/pop, easy listening etc. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

    Hi bootneck02

You don't give a guide price which make the task of advising you more difficult.
But you use and like your Logitech Z5500 5.1 speaker system.Which gives 188 watts subwoofer
    and satellites give 62 watts
Since you found the above Logitech fitted the bill
Perhaps the LogitechZ-2300 2.1 Speaker System 200W RMS Wired Remote which is a more compact
    system, may fit the bill.

A good site for reviewing this system can be found here: http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.a...FRM_lAodFTsXwQ

Best price here: Logitech Z-2300 2.1 Speaker System 200W RMS Wired: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

The satellites and subwoofer give out respectable output for the price so I think they will fit the bill.

Hi Jim thank for your thoughts, I am going to listen to a LogitechZ4 and a Sony SRSD211.CEK 2.1 35W. Although I would love to go for a LogitechZ-2300 2.1 I have a feeling that her indoors may explode if she thought I was going to spend £100 ish on a set of speakers just as we have the expence of moving. What is your feeling on the two above systems?

    Hi bootneck02

Of the two I would go with the LogitechZ4. Which as more power than the Sony.
It as a respectable review at CNet see here: Logitech Z-4 Full Review, Accessory Reviews on CNET UK
Was unable to find a comprehensive review on the Sony.
    the spec is : -

    Total Output: 35W
    Satellite: 5W x 2
    STL. Driver: 57 mm
    Subwoofer: 25W
    SW. Driver: 120 mm

    With logitechs satellites at 17W x 2
    and subwoofer at 23W

So for me the Logitech wins on power but not on looks being much larger than the Sony system.

Hi Jim23, thank you for your input and interest in my speaker problems, this morning I left the house early before your latest post and went to several independent retailers in my area and was able to listen to several systems at one supplier including the Logitech Z4 and the Sony SRSD211.CEK 2.1 system. I eventually went for the Sony system as there was not much between them for sound quality if anything, but the deciding factor was the price He let me have them for £49-99. The sound from them is very good the mid range is better I thought better than the Z4 as on the Z4 can get a little muddy on the mid range but I must say there was very little in it between the two. As far as volume there again did not seem much between the two as both in a small room would blast your ears, the bass on the Z4 is slightly better and boomy for games also the Z4 control box is more solid. What I did like about the Sony was the speakers the feet clipped off so one can wall mount without having to remove screws, the amplifier/bass unit is oblong and is only 16mm Wide X 29mm long, What I did not like about the Sony is the control box it is light and has a tendency to fall over and the nobs on it are small. As far as fitting them up it only took about 5 min plenty of cable and the instructions easy to follow if you need to be instructed. The design is pleasing to the eye and black and silver all in all not a bad set of speakers.

    Hi bootneck02

Glad to see you've got your sound system sorted
Going and listening to them both out side by side is always the best way to make sure you get a system that best suits you.
There was not much between the systems on power so looks was always going to be the deciding factor.
Good luck on the move later this month and many happy hours of listening with the Sony
