Can anyone tell me what i need to connect my new wireless Laptop to 10mb Virgin Cable broadband. I do not want to go to wireless broadband due to extra costs involved. Hope its possible????

All notebooks should still have an Ethernet port so you can connect via a Ethernet cable to the modem, or better yet, a router. You can also buy a WAP (wireless access point) that connects to the router (or modem). So you connect wirelessly to the WAP, which then connects you via cable to your network - everything on your side of the "gateway device" - the modem.
