    Limited internet access

I use a wireless connection for my laptop and just lately it has gone very strange. It will allow me on a few sites such as gmail and some game sites but most of them it just never loads. I have tried to install anti-viruses in case it is that, however even when using disks to transfer the main files from my mum's computer to my laptop, it requires an internet connection to finish installing and is not registering one, even though the laptop itself does register that it is connected to the internet. Anyone any ideas what I could do?

Some information about the computer might help.

Does that mean you were running without AV protection? Do other computers connect fine?

That should be fine, if you don't participate in risky practices, like filesharing on P2P sites, or don't keep your system patched and updated. Then you could still be infected, regardless the security.

I would suggest you check for updates for your MBAM and WD, then do a complete scan just to be sure. Do you use a custom hosts file? (If you don't know, then probably not).

I've run a scan on both and it came up with nothing and I have no idea about custom hosts files. Can anyone else think of anything else it could be?

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
If the other computer works fine, it is not your router. I would temporarily disable your firewall and see if you can connect.
