Internet speeds slowed down

Hi,
I have a 10meg internet connection and my speed tests lately have been far short of this. I mostly use my connection for my XBox live and browsing the internet.

As you can see they have diminished of late and that i have hashed out my ip addy for security reasons. Any idea how i can sort this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Friend,
Go ahead and run defrag and check disk. Also run disk cleanup. If that doesn't do it, go to "tools" in your browser and delete cookies, files and clear your history, too. That should get you set.

What maintenance program are you running? A computer is like a house, it needs updating and cleaning weekly if not daily.

You may like to follow this link to achieve some of the above to optimize your system to run well for you.

Re you slow internet connection, contact your ISP provider to see if they can check their end.

I have MS updates set to AUTO. And i run CCleaner on a regular basis. (both registry and system cleans). I also use Process Explorer to monitor system usage. Also have COMODO firewall and run Anti-malware regularly. I have become more aware of keeping an eye on my system and cleaning since I had trouble a few weeks ago with Malware. (Which has been officially declaired clean(thank u Broni)). But it may well be a problem with my RAM as I have had issues with BSoD. (Another Thread). So I will try to resolve that issue and then test again. Thank you for the replies.

Hi,
I have solved the problem after several hours of brain racking and looking through various logs. Turns out that around the time my internet speeds slowed I had installed AVG9.0 paid edition. So out of curiosity I tried to uninstall(which I might add was a pain in the posterior(due to needing to download a program to uninstall it)). And low and behold my system is now nippier and my speeds are back up to 9.8mb/s. So I was wrong about my RAM. It was AVG9.0. So to all out there who want a good AV. DO-NOT get AVG9.0. It is more hassle than it is worth.
On a more serious note though do you know of a good AV as i am now only using Kaspersky online AV and have no realtime protection? COMODO firewall is all i have.
