Windows Live Messenger connection problem.
Hi there.
Please can you help. I have just bought a Emachine 10" notebook with memory etc back to the uk from usa(might not be relevant). It has Windows 7. I am connecting to internet via a Vodafone Internet Dongle. It all seems fine until I set up Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo Messenger, they wont connect!!! saying proxy or firewall possible probs. Windows and Yahoo Mail are fine. I have checked the firewall and it is ticked to allow for windows messenger. Has anyone encountered these probs? Thanks. Steve.

Hi Friend,
First of all, repair Windows Live Messenger:
1. In the notification area on the taskbar (near the clock), click the Messenger icon, and then click Exit.
2. On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
4. Under Currently installed programs, click Windows Live Messenger, and then click Change.
5. Click Repair.
Otherwise you can try to adjust the Windows Internet Explorer proxy settings:
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
4. Clear the Automatically detect settings check box.
5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
Thanks,
James
