    Microsoft Security Essentials versus Kaspersky

    Hi,

I have just purchased a new computer and it is loaded with Microsoft Security Essentials, I have a three licence copy of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, with one licence available.

What is D-A-L's opinion of Microsoft Security Essentials, and should I replace it with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010?

    Kind regards

    Martin

If 10 volunteers reply to your question you most likely will get 10 different opinions Martin.

My opinion is yes, I would remove Security Essentials and replace it with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Three reasons I can think of
    • I had no luck with MS SE (While I had it on my systems it found nothing at all)
    • You are controlled by MS for the Updates
    • I see when browsing around many forums Malware Experts are recommending Kasperky daily.
Have you used Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 on other computers as you have paid for it, I would use it.

    kind regards,

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
There is no "D-A-L" opinion for there is no "one" solution that works - pretty much if the anti-malware program is certified by the major labs (ICSA Labs, virus Bulletin - AV-Test.org, AV Comparatives), you will be fine if you keep your system otherwise updated and you avoid risky pratices. That said, I moved all my systems over to MSE and Windows Firewall last October and have no regrets. They are not full of bloat and don't bog down my systems as Comodo and AVG was doing.
