Problems viewing webpages and watching videos online

Hi, I have recently started to have problems watching video online. I am using IE version 8. Scripting of Java applets are enabled in my internet security settings and I have also installed the latest version of the Adobe Flash player. I can watch youtube videos fine when I use the search function on the site, but when I go to a youtube user's profile and click on a video, I get an error message that says "Bad response from server".

Also, the MSN homepage isn't showing up properly for me. The “Video highlights from the past week” section just appears as a blank box, as does the section under “Advertising” and “ad space”. I have attached a screenshot of my current view of the page.

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is related to this
Microsoft's out-of-band IE patch to arrive tonight | IT PRO
I don't know if this is related to your problem but if you do not have automatic updates
enabled. Then it might be worth making sure you have the patch installed

If not related please post back

perhaps flash player needs to be reinstalled? it could have become corrupted, or if you just installed it and didn't notice any changes in your issue, might not have installed correctly. the server message from youtube to me, sounds like a youtube server issue. not related to your flash player or java scriplets.

Hi, I have tried reinstalling flash player and it appears to be working fine. I am able to see the video that plays on the Adobe site to confirm that the installation has been successful. Also, I do have automatic updates enabled - but how do I check if this patch has been installed? Thanks.

You will need to use your IE8 browser for this.
    Go to Microsoft Update
If you never been to this page before you will need to validate your version of windows first.
Validation is a simple process just follow the prompts.
Once validation is complete you will be returned to the updates page.
On that page on left hand side you will see the option Review your update history
Click on that and you will see a list of all your updates for that PC.
The update you are looking for is : -

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB978207)
    If your OS is Vista
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 in Windows Vista (KB978207)

Also you could try using another Web Browser and see if the problem still persists.
This will help to find out if the problem is with your IE8 browser or settings on
    your PC
Any of the browser below will do.
When installing your choice don't allow the browser to be your default if you wish to keep IE8 as your default browser

Firefox found here Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe
Opera Opera browser | Faster & safer internet | Free download
Or Goggle Chrome: Google Chrome - Download a new browser

Everything appears to be working fine again. I turned off pop-up blocker and ad blocker on my Norton Internet Antivirus and I can view webpages properly and watch videos without any problems.
