Hi Kallude
Download and Install Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from here
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...bd/msicuu2.exe
Install and run it. Then see if Open Office is amongst the installed programs listed, and uninstall it
Also download and install CCleaner found here CCleaner - Home.
Install and run it. Now click on the Registry button on the left hand side.
Then click on the Scan for Issues button when its complete press the Fix Issues button.
The program will ask Do you want to backup changes to the registry Click Yes
Select a place were you can easily find the file should you need it and click Save
Another box will appear click on Fix all Issues button and close CCleaner
Now try and see if you can install openoffice
If not could you tell us what your OS is please Is it XP,Vista or Windows 7
because the answer could be more involved

I figured out what to do..
Go to start then run type in regedit that will take you to registry editer double click on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder then open the software folder scroll down to the openoffice.org folder and delete it. Then go and reinstall openoffice.![]()
I just wanted to note that unless you know what you are doing, you should not mess with the registry because if you mess that up you could render other programs or even windows useless.
Glad to see you got it sorted.
That was were I was going next but decided to try the the safer options first.
I didn't want to start editing the registry until I knew your OS.
So I could give you the instructions (should you have needed it) on how best to Backup, Edit and restore (in the event of problems) your registry.
Congrats on sorting it your self.
Its always good feeling when you sort out the problem your self.
Know you can get on and write that letter to
Merry Christmas

Hi Friends,
This error might have due to two reasons only. the two reasons are as follow:-
There might be already one installation already in your computer will be trying to install another which conflict both. And to resolve this problem, remove the duplicate program and then install Office or the Office program again.
Second problem, there is a bad CD ROM or there might be a bad CD itself. And if you are installing from CD.Test your CD-ROM drive configuration, reduce the drive caching for your CD-ROM drive.
Thanks,
James
