Hi
I have been using Sparkpeople.com for months and now the page will not load for me at all?
I get "Internet explorer can not display the webpage". I have tried to get to it from links posted on facebook and through a search engine too and still the same message?
Any help gratefully received!
Greeneyes
Hi greeneyes
Just tried Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople
and had no problem connecting myself.
Is this the only page you have problems with?
What version of Internet Explorer are you using?
You could try installing another browser such as Firefox found here Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe
Or Opera found here Opera browser | Faster & safer internet | Free download
Neither of these browsers will have any effect on your IE browser.
Just ensure after the installation when asked if you want the browser installed To be your Default Browser. say NO
After the installation try to connect to Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople
If you can this would suggest a problem with your IE browser. If not it could be or something related to your PC.
Please post back when you've tried this.
Jim
Hi Jim
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately i still cant get on after installing Firefox, see below.
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Just a thought but we are having problems with our broadband connection. BT are going to put in new cables to the house. Could it be that the line is playing up so my pc is too slow connecting so it times out?
Thanks again
Kirsty
Hi Kirsty
Its always a possibility if your connection was very slow. But I've been to the site and doesn't take long to load. So if you can surf to other sites I see nothing with SparkPeople that should cause this problem
We could extend the time out limit In Firefox.
Type about:config in the address bar and press enter.
You will get a message Here be Dragons!
click the I'll be careful button
Scroll down until you see dom.max_script_run_time
Double click it and type in 30 seconds (the default is 10 seconds)
Restart Firefox
Now try Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople
Can you connect know
Jim
Pardon my intrusion here.
I had a thread like this on another forum only today that I was contributing to and it turned out the problem was with the users' ISP.....The OP had two computers in the house and both could not connect to a certain website which was proof that it was not either computer at fault.
Greeneyes, have you got a good maintenance program for your system which is important? I am meaning a housekeeping program for example, there are tips here.
Check with your ISP to see if they have a problem with your account their end.
kind regards,
Thanks Jim and Tallin for responding.
Jim ive tried what you suggested and still nothing unfortunately.
Tallin i tried Hubbys laptop the other day and wouldnt load there either but thought it was slow connection to be honest. I will contact our ISP as you suggest it makes sense. I did call them when we first had trouble with our connection and they didnt highlight any problems then. Dont you lose the will to live when calling them! lol.
Clean up my pc quite frequently but am going to follow the post you linked to from now on :-)
Thanks again both of you ive been going crazy on this one.
