I mean "starting fresh", using the existing port etc.

    I can't reinstall the router,
I tried to explain to my father which the router is installed to his laptop. He isn't computer illiterate so its like talking to a wall, it wasn't going to happen. My sisters started complaining and I would rather just not play games then deal with them :P.

If I was to open the port it would have to be on my side....: [

I heard of this "hard reset" which is holding in the reset for about 10-15 secs, will I have to setup the router all over again? Because my family would have my head.. X_x

I checked over my Wireless cards configuration and noticed that I don't have the green linksys icon that I had in my tray that I had back when I used Windows XP. So I located the Linksys files and tried to start the WUSB600N application. It starts shows the icon and then disappears. I tried running as admin and some compatibility modes but no luck, same results. Could this have something to do with me not accessing my router config?
