Subject: What is the best Antivirus for Linux OS.

You don't really need an anti-virus program, but if you want something to scan files so you don't unintentionally infect a Windows user, Avast and AVG are both good and free downloads are available. Free antivirus software download for virus and spyware protection - avast! (Avast) AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Real-time protection against viruses, spyware and malicious websites (AVG)

If it ain't broke, you aren't trying hard enough.

I disagree on this point. I scan everything I download before opening, even from friends and people I know well. A virus/malware can rear its ugly head at any time. It's better to catch things before they do damage.

I use Avast!. It does an excellent job.

In case this is a Open Suse question.. ClamAV is what I run In Linux to scan downloaded files before I transfer them to USB.

For Windows, I set up my Wifes new Windows 7 Home Premium laptop with AvastAV, MalwareBytes, and SpywareBlaster, and Use Router and Windows Firewall.

I think Tallin was responding that way Dan because in another thread dingchris stated he was running Linux OpenSuse 11.1. So maybe in that context he was correct as far as saying to protect Windows boxes from getting infected accessing his box.
You are correct rokytnji, that is exactly why I responded that way to the OP.
    (dingchris questions can be cryptic).
I would also agree with your statement above in quotes. We are all volunteers here and sometimes OP's posts do come over as though we are not......I do like to assist, but also like some respect where all are concerned.

    kind regards,
