Hi,

I had the problem of Vista allowing Local Only access to my wireless router and not Local and Internet but I sorted that one out by specifying DNS information with a static IP address. So now, from DOS, I can ping google.com and it works fine. IE8 works fine but all other apps, Avant, Safari, Chrome, MSN Messenger, Windows Defender updates, etc, don't get out to the net.

I've disabled my firewall and I'm not using Norton (as some posts have suggested removing). I can't work this one out. I thought browsers were different coloured doors to the same room (the net) but this one has stumped me for a couple of days now.
