    Unable to access some sites

The computer hangs when trying to access the Wikipedia site or page via a search engine or address bar. On a rare occasion after waiting Wikipedia might open from search results, but never from Firefox bookmarks. The task bar reads "stopped". This problem only happened after recently saving Wikipedia page to bookmarks. I do not have this problem accessing and saving Wikipedia bookmarks from another computer using the same Internet connection. There are big dipps now and again from my Eircom.net internet connection which is supposed to be 3mbps but often reads to below 50kps. However the time the speed test was run on the second PC, it was around 2mbps on both PC's. I would appreciate any info on fixing this hang issue when trying to access Wikipedia pages.

    thanks,

    Jen11

Try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

    Hi,

I have tried that and Wikipedia pages will open from search engine and slowly from saving to Internet Explorer Favourites. However it will still not open from the bookmarks folder in Firefox which is the deflaut browser. I no longer use Internet explorer. I have tried deleting cookies, temp files etc from firefox options. Norton 360 is installed on the computer, and spybot as there was something opening ads to Internet explorer previously from the computer but I'm not sure if it is a firefox issue. The latest version is installed.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
I'd suggest deleting all Wiki bookmarks then see if you can re-add them.

If that offers no help then let our security pros view your logs in a process outlined here:
