Please help, I have tried everything...I cannot log onto the internet via IE. I have checked the modem and it is working fine. I cannot restore my computer to when it was working. I get the message "cannot restore your computer to that date". I don't know what else to do, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (of course I can only check this at work, cuz internet don't work at home)

What happens when you try? Any error messages?

Can Outlook Express connect? Have you another browser to try?

Check > start > Run... > cmd

Then type ipconfig

Does it show a connection?

Any idea of any coinciding activities with this problem? Or did it just mysteriously fail one day?

Can you connect to your IP or modem address? e.g. 192.168.1.1

I don't get any messages, it just sits there trying to connect but nothing happens. I did do the ipconfig and it showed the address....I don't have any other browsers to use....haven't tried outlook express.

Can you access your modem or router by typing the IP address in the address bar and GO?

This would be the address in ipconfig e.g. 192.168.1.1
