just wondering, for both website owners and home users.....
where do you backup your files?
for website owners, have you a good estimate of how long it would take to restore a full backup from wherever you have them?

As a "home user" I back up my files very rarely, but when I do, I back them up to my Jumpdrive and a DVD.
I back up in many Hard disks...it is faster ...eace:
CD´s and DVD´s are too slow
Pedro.
I just have a complete c: image made with Acronis True Image and anything i want to keep on my D:.
That's safe enough for what i use. If i need to reinstall it takes 10 minutes or so now 8)

For my home PC I have an externel 250GB drive on a Linksys USB 2.0 Network storage unit. This holds all my data from all the PC's in the house, and also makes moving stuff between PC's easier (windows file sharing is awful).
For the server I use a remote RSYNC solution.
I carry a small 200GB backup drive......and also use a 1GB Flash Card and SD Card 1GB for laptop and work..........
I still burn all this to DVD/RW........no harm in backing up the back up.....

I just did a clean install of XP on a 10GB partition (don't make it any smaller as some programs insist on installing on the C: ). I then install all Microsoft updates and change any settings i like (single click to open folders, pagefile size etc).Originally Posted by Orphelia
I then install Acronis True Image on to my D:, get it to make a complete copy of my C: and save it on my D:. Now if i want to reinstall my operating system i simply open Acronis True Image up and select 'Recovery'. point it to my backup and go have a cup of Coffee
All my programs are installed on my D: as well![]()
